On average over the past five years, we have sponsored 2 girls per year in St Kitts & Nevis.
The following story is from one of our beneficiaries, highlighting her ambition and the obstacles that prevented her from completing secondary school before she was sponsored.
To protect her identity, the name of the girl has been changed.
Kelly’s Story
“I want to become a role model of excellence that everyone is proud of. I plan on giving back to as much as I can so that so that others get the opportunity to succeed”.
Kelly is a young lady with a vision. She is ambitious, a hard working student with a passion for helping others and maintains a top 10 position in class. In future, she wants to be a doctor and has already achieved high grades in her chosen subjects. Kelly suffers from Asthma and is seriously allergic to grass. This often leads to visits to the emergency room, which inevitably disrupts her learning. Last year, due to financial difficulties, her family had to move to the other side of the island making getting to school a challenge. She was faced with the possibility of moving school, however, her parents did not want to move disrupt her academic progress and strong relationships with her peers.
“Your sponsorship has given me the opportunity to purchase text and exercise books, school uniform, travel to and from school and lunch, so that I can be healthy and function properly”.
